A New Car for the Trip

We finally did it. We got a new car! Well, somewhat new. The newest car that either of us has ever owned. It is a 2000 Toyota Camry. It is dark red- not burgundy or maroon- but red. We are so excited. We traded in our two cars- yes, you heard me, Courtney parted with the beloved Grand Marquis. But, to the Camry's credit- Courtney said that he thinks it is just as smooth as the Marquis ever was in its prime. We got it last Thursday just before we left for a family reunion. It was great to have a good car- with a great air conditioning - for the trip up to Lake Catherine State Park in Hot Springs, AR. My family on my dad's side had a reunion there this past weekend. We have been having reunions there every other year for the past 15 years. So, it was a lot of fun to have Courtney there with me and be able to show him all the ins and outs of the park. Jenn and Bart were also there as well as my two younger siblings and their "significant others"- Josh Melton (Lacey's boyfriend) and Mary Drew Jones (Stephen's girlfriend). We rented a conoe and a party boat, so we were able to take turns on the different things and went all around the lake. It was great fun! We also broke Courtney, Josh and Mary Drew into the family's card game rituals. We played rather brutal games of Spoons , Pit and Nerts. All in all, we had a great time. But, like Shannon- it is great to be home.
