Family Update

Just thought I would write a general update post to let you all know how everything is going that I have posted about lately.

I finally found shoes! It was great. We went to the mall Saturday and shopped until we dropped...almost literally. The mall was having a huge shoe sale on Saturday, so we decided to pop in and see if we could find my much needed shoes. Boy did we ever. I got some Naturalizers and Easy Spirit shoes as well as some others that I didn't recognize the name on. We also found athletic shoes for really cheap. Since we've been exercising a lot lately, we were both in great need of some good shoes. So, we each got a pair for great prices. We were so excited AND after spending 4 hours in the mall (a record for me...I'm never there more than an hour if I can help it) we had already gotten lots of exercise. On a side note- the mall was very crowded- it was a Saturday morning after all- but, it was suprizingly a pleasant experience.

The Atkin's Diet is going very well. We have now been on it for 30 days. We have each lost a healthy ammount of weight for the time period involved and have also lost a considerable ammount of inches. We don't feel deprived or bored (too much) with the foods we are eating either. We haven't had major sugar cravings and haven't even been tempted to buy the Atkin's Advantage Bars (basically sugar-free candy bars). We have lots of energy and are sleeping better than ever. We are all set to be on this phase for another month! Keep us in your prayers as we continue to try to improve our health.

I am still reading the Joinville Cronicles on the 4th Crusade to the Holy Land. I have been so busy lately that I just haven't had time to read. But, hopefully when I get finished with this post I will have some time.

We leave for Florida on Friday for the Amy Schneider and Chris Nix wedding. Get this! I have known Amy since before I can remember. Her dad baptized me in Jackson, Mississippi back about 20 years ago. When we were 7, she and her family moved to Florida and my family moved to Forest, Mississippi. Meanwhile, Courtney was growing up in North Dakota and Chris (Amy's fiance) was in Texarkana, Texas. I didn't see Amy again until I was about 16 years old at a church conference in Virginia. In 1995 Courtney went to college in Idaho and a few years later Chris Nix went to the same college in Idaho- where the two of them met. In 2000 Courtney moved down here to Monroe to go to school. Chris came for a visit to Monroe (there are lots of people from the school in Idaho that live here now) and met Amy who was visiting with her family at a conference we were having. And they met and fell in love and are now geting married. What a small world we live in. Who would have ever thought that Amy and I- Kindergarten playmates- would move away from eachother only to be united by marrying 2 guys from different parts of the country who happened to go to the same obscure school in Idaho? And for everyone to meet up in Monroe????? It really blows my mind sometimes how connected we all are to eachother.

Next month starts our "Wedding-Attending-and-Other-Misc.-Travel-Month.
I suppose that this coming weekend will really start it off, but since it isn't October yet, I don't know if it counts. We have a wedding at our church in Monroe on Oct. 4th. Then on Oct. 19th we are going to Nacodoches, TX to Aaron and Christin's dad's church for a conference there. Then on October 23rd we'll head towards Long Boat Key, FL (near Tampa) for my cousin's wedding, but we'll stop off in Tifton, GA to visit Steve and Scott Payne first. Then the Sunday after that wedding we'll head up to Pine Knoll Shores, NC for Jeremy Huntington's (Courtney's brother) wedding. All said, we'll be gone for about 12 days in the month of October. I can't wait- I love road trips.

Well I think that is everything for now. I'll keep you posted on further plans and progress. Blessings!

All wives love road trips. That's the for sure time that you have our husband's undivided attention(with the exception of the road). Candice and I talk more when we are travelling than any other time. It shouldn't be that way, but it is.

Congratulations to Jeremy! Give him a good toast Courtney.
